🎃Teaching Him How To Sew His Own Halloween Costume | Merlin Sewing Vlog!
I made Melchior sew his own Merlin Halloween costume to go trick or treating at Mickey's not so scary Halloween party at Walt Disney world last year. Enjoy a slightly chaotic sewing vlog where I teach him some sewing basics. While he is busy sewing his basic tunic, I made his bag, hat and shoes.

The problem is, your skirt is all one length. A riding habit would’ve had the right hand side longer to account for your leg over the pommel. When dismounting, you could have draped the right side back and fastened the extra length to a button with a loop. This would’ve allowed you to walk in the skirt. Also, you would have needed riding breeches for modesty. The breeches would have buttoned to the right at the ankle on both legs, and would have had a stirrup to fasten under the heel of each boot.

I liked what you are trying to do, but I am a visual person and found it difficult to see the lines. Perhaps it would be a good idea if you used a coloured pencil. You have a good way of bringing your knowledge to the fore. I just could not see what you were drawing on the paper.

I was taught to use a double strand by putting 2 strands through the needle. That way the same spot in the thread isn't being abraded by the needle eye AND much less tangling.

The pattern I am using is from a gracious magazine from 1876. I am not using a pattern from the V&A. I was just looking at existing corset from the V&A collection for inspiration for color ways (silk, lace and flossing)
